JellyBaby Shots

We took images of the first four shots for our opening film using jellybabys.

This shot is going to be a panning shot with my name as I'm the director
This is a shot of the two characters walking to the log. Cara Hannigan the main scary girl.
This will also be a panning shot of the two girl characters talking on the log. It alsoshows the actors names.

This shows the title of the film in front of the forest with the scary girl under it.

Opening Credits

We watched two opening credits in class which were "Se7en" and "Vertigo". We made a timeline to see what was shown in both opening credits. Both films mentioned the producers, production companies, actors, editors, scriptwriter, director of photography and directors. The director is mentioned twice, once in the beginning and another at the end of the opening credits. This shows the importance the director has.

Here is the timeline I made for "Vertigo"

Editing

I found editing the first parts of my film hard. I'm not very good at editing so I need a lot more practising. I found editing hard because the footage that we had shot, didn't really fit in well with each other so we need more time to shoot some new footage to add it in the right places. I also found it hard to get the right blue tint that I wanted, like in the Twilight film, that didn't really work out. Overall, I think that with editing I just need more practise with getting used to all the tools and I should be fine with it.

Two more ways I would market my film

I've decided I would like my distributor to market my film in two more ways. This includes;
A website and merchandise.

I would want a website for my film because most
people spend their time online and I think it would be good for my film to be out there easy for people to know more about it. Websites are good because you can find more information about the film and what it's about and it's a good because people can download wallpapers, screen savers, icons, play games and watch behind the scene's footage. Also when the film comes out on DVD, people would be able to go on the website and pre-order it.

I would also want my distributor to market merchandise for my film. I think merchandise is a good way to get people to go and want to see my film because by having a person buy a shirt or a mug, it'll get other peoples attention and then they'll might want to find out what this film is about and might end up watching the film.

My Location.

Here are some images that I took of where my film is going to be set. As you can see, it's going to take place in a park and in a woody like area near it. Obviously when we start filming it'll be dark and that'll help us make the film a bit more scary.

3 things I would like my distributor to spend money on.

The first thing I would like my distributor to spend money on would be posters. I think that posters would appeal to my target audience because teenagers are attracted to eye catching images and I think it'll catch there attention easily with big images and bold colours.

The second thing I would like my distributor to spend money on is trailers. Trailers would appeal to my target audience because most teenagers spend their time on the internet and most of them use youtube where you can watch millions of videos. I also think that if you have a good trailer then that person would want to see your film that much more.

The third thing I would like my distributor to spend money on is media advertising. I think that this would attract my target audience because most teens spend time watching tv and a lot of films are advertised on that. I also think that if people were seeing that my film was being advertised everywhere then they must think its a good film and then convince themselves that they have to go watch it.

Funding.

To make a film you have to get some sort of funding. You can get funding opportunities from a lot of different places, whether you take out a loan from a bank, get the money of your family...well that's if you come from a wealthy family or you can get a government grant. A government grant is when the government give you money to encourage creativity and develop new talent. Films would not be successful without film distributors I would find a distributor by searching them on the internet and then by getting in contact with them and find out who would I feel more confident in to distribute my film.

Horror Film Prezi & Feedback.

I created a short presentation to show my fellow students how I would like my horror film to be.

My Presentation

I got some feedback for my presentation. People liked the images I used to show how I would want things to be. I was asked who my target audience was and said my target audience would be 15-18 years old. I aimed it at this age group because most people who did my horror survey were in this age group. I was also asked what type of camera shots would I use and replied that I would use a variety of shots but also I want my film to be like a sort of home video type of film because I feel that has more of an effect and would make the film more believable so people would find it more frightening to watch. People liked the idea of making the child be the evil person in this film so I'm definitely sticking with that. Overall I'm pleased with the feedback and hope people will enjoy my film once it's done.

Opening Of A Horror Film.

In an opening of a horror film, I would expect opening scene to be dark and scary. I would expect to hear creepy type of music playing in the background. Obviously because it's a horror film, I would expect that people will die at some point. When someone dies in a horror film it's normally very gory and not so pleasent to watch (although some people do enjoy it). I would also expect the credits to be in goth type font and in bold.
This is the type of thing I would expect to see in an opening of a horror film.

Green Screen

Today I learn't how to use Green Screen, I found it quite easy to use. However I did have trouble finding a background to fit right in my video but it turned out ok in the end. Here is my video above...enjoy!

Survey Findings.

So about a week a ago I made a film audience survey based on horror. I collected my findings and found out that the majority of people who did my survey were in the age group 12-18. This means that my horror film should be aimed at this age group. Most people are scared of insects so I thought I would use some of them in my film seeing as it got the majority vote. I also found out that Paranormal horror was the type of horror that most people like as well as of types of horror such as; Torture horror, Vampire horror and Slasher horror. This gives me a good idea of what type of horror my film is going to be.

Filming & Editing.

I learnt a lot about filming, this includes many different ways you can shoot in such as; "The 180° Rule", "Over The Shoulder", "Field Of View" and many more. Filming is very complicated but its okay if you don't get the right shot, you would be able to edit that shot while in the editing process.

I found editing quite difficult. Maybe its because of the fact that I've never actually edited a film in my life until now. I found out that you need A LOT of patients in editing as it takes a while for you to figure out how to use the program and get used to it. Also its not good to rush your editing process because your film might turn out not how you wanted because you might of made a mistake without even knowing because you had rushed. When I got a little used to the editing program, I learned that you could do a lot to your film such as; adjusting the colour, adding audio, adding effects on clips which include making it blurry or adding shadows and many more effects that would take far to long to list! I did enjoy editing the film but I think I would enjoy it even more when I get used to how to actually edit a film.
